The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is set to kick off the summer season with a special treat for visitors. On Canada Day, Monday, July 1, the museum will offer free general admission, inviting everyone to explore its rich collection without the need for tickets. This initiative marks the start of ROM’s summer programs.
Free Access on Canada Day
To celebrate Canada Day, ROM will grant complimentary access to its permanent galleries and the special exhibition “Quilts: Made in Canada.” Visitors should be prepared for potential wait times due to the high volume of attendees and building capacity limits. All guests are asked to enter through the Weston Entrance along Queen’s Park.
Summer-long Free Main Floor Access
Starting Tuesday, July 2, ROM will offer free access to its main floor throughout the summer. This initiative ensures that more people can experience Ontario’s cultural diversity and artistic excellence. ROM’s summer program, Free Main Floor, includes a variety of performances tied to the museum’s exhibitions, galleries, research, and community initiatives.
Performances and Exhibitions
The summer lineup features notable performers such as Opera Atelier, presenting diverse styles of opera and classical music, Scott Jackson, an internationally acclaimed master of sound and ceremony, and My Pop Choir, known for blending the joy of music with the power of community. Visitors can enjoy daily performances in the Samuel Hall Currelly Gallery and outdoor weekend shows every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, thanks to support from The Schmidt Family.
Extended Summer Hours
In addition to these programs, ROM will be open seven days a week starting July 2, with Monday access added for the summer months. The museum will operate daily from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm, with the last admission at 5:00 pm.
